“The only thing that I see that is distinctly different about me is I’m not afraid to die on a treadmill. I will not be out-worked, period. You might have more talent than me, you might be smarter than me, you might be sexier than me, you might be all of those things you got it on me in nine categories. But if we get on the treadmill together, there’s two things: You’re getting off first, or I’m going to die. It’s really that simple, right?
You’re not going to out-work me. It’s such a simple, basic concept. The guy who is willing to hustle the most is going to be the guy that just gets that loose ball. The majority of people who aren’t getting the places they want or aren’t achieving the things that they want in this business is strictly based on hustle. It’s strictly based on being out-worked; it’s strictly based on missing crucial opportunities. I say all the time if you stay ready, you ain’t gotta get ready.” – Will Smith

This is one of my favourite quotes by my favourtie actor. For me personally I felt compelled to share this quote because recently as I mentioned in yesterday’s thought of the day (Read More: July 18th Thought of the Day) I have been learning and having my beliefs and ideas of reality challenged. This is a vital part of becoming  the best you can be, but during this process of learning to deal with ever increasing uncertainty and complexity it is easy to become paralyzed and stop taking action. No matter how well designed of a plan you have to achieve your dreams it must be based on the foundation of dogged determination and unmatched work ethic otherwise you will never fulfill your potential and give your true gift to the world.

I have kept this post purposefully concise because the message is simple: do not let uncertainty prevent you from taking action. Do NOT be outworked, and make the appropriate adjustments to the negative feedback you receive from your mistakes.

Below is the interview in which Will Smith shares this pearl of wisdom. This whole interview is extremely powerful, and I highly recommend that it is something that you come back to over and over again to reinforce the mindset of a champion. It is a video I consistently re-watch to ingrain this mindset in my nervous system.
